Postdoctoral Researcher
Dr Morgane Reina
Morgane Reina is a French sociologist and postdoctoral researcher at Centro Brasileiro de Análise e Planejamento in São Paulo. As part of the international project Repairing Sociality, Safeguarding Democracy, her research in Brazil focuses on everyday negotiations of religious and racial diversity at a public school in the peripheral neighborhood of Perus, São Paulo. Through ethnographic fieldwork, she investigates how educators and students navigate moral tensions and coexistence in contexts marked by inequality, drawing on Lori Beaman’s concept of deep equality.
Previously, she coordinated international research projects at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), addressing migrant integration in contexts such as Slovakia, Brazil, Peru, and the Dominican Republic. She also taught at Sciences Po Paris and the University of Brasília, offering courses on general sociology, gender, sexuality, and Latin American politics.
Morgane holds a PhD in Sociology from UnB, with a dissertation exploring the intersections of pentecostalism, politics, gender, and race through extensive ethnographic fieldwork. She earned her Master's degree in Political Sociology at Sciences Po Paris, where she also specialized in Latin American studies.
Fluent in French, Portuguese, English, and Spanish, Morgane combines field research with international project coordination, academic teaching, and public policy engagement.
